In case you wonder how gamers found out what this special upgrade was about: German gamers on the Larian Forum asked persistantly about it and the reason for all those ropes in the game. Bronthion/Larian Studios gave in and then informed all about this Easteregg. And as the teleporter back from this area didn't work, the Germans then thought up of the pyramid solution.
